Preliminary program – Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024, 13-14 March, Cologne (hybrid event)

First peeks into the program of the upcoming Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 available – Cellulose Fibres Response to the Growing Demand for Eco-fibres as a substitute for plastics in various applications.

The unique conference focused on cellulose fibres – in textiles, hygiene products and packaging

 

To combat the problem of microplastics, the European Union has issued regulations such as the Single Use Plastic Directive (SUPD). This regulation also targets several product groups that contain fibres - therefore it is a great opportunity for the cellulose fibre sector. In addition, Micro fibres represent a significant proportion of microplastics and have also been a focus issue to address in recent years.

Accordingly, sustainable materials used as alternatives to plastics, especially in the disposable sector, are very often based on cellulose. At the Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 nova-Institute will present the most successful solutions based on cellulose fibres that are currently available on the market.

The commercial production of man-made cellulose fibres currently relies on the use of dissolving-grade pulp from wood. Alternative feedstocks such as non-wood fibres, textile waste or even recycled paper such as bank notes provide new and alternative raw materials for related industries. However, a wider raw material base holds great potential to further improve the environmental sustainability of man-made cellulosic fibres.

In addition, the steadily increasing sectors of cellulose based non-wovens, packaging and hygiene products will offer insights beyond the horizon of the conventional application field of textiles. For the Cellulose Fibres Conference 2024 the advisory board has selected the first set of presentations. Currently confirmed speakers will cover the listed topics. Stay tuned – more will follow soon.
